The Wall Street Journal has gently backed away from that story it published last Friday about Barack Obama being too thin to appeal to voters this fall. It seems that the editors at the Journal found the methods used in the story slightly dubious, as I did.
A Weekend Journal article Friday about Barack Obama’s weight included a quote from a Yahoo bulletin board that was posted in response to a question from a Wall Street Journal reporter who initiated the discussion. The article should have disclosed that the reporter used the bulletin board to elicit the comment, “I won’t vote for any beanpole guy.”

It has been noted around the blogosphere that the Yahoo account that generated that comment (”onlinebeerbellygirl“) was started the day of the discussion (links to Google cache) and apparently used one time, to make that specific comment.
