Civilian Response Corps–Part 3

The Peace Corps, inaugurated during the administration of President John F. Kennedy, played a role in this process. This initiative was useful both in attempting to refurbish America’s image abroad, supposedly combating poverty, and in engaging young people who were appalled at conditions in “Third World” countries. The Peace Corps was prompted primarily by fears of revolution in countries where the US had very little credible presence and where it feared growing Soviet influence.
Kennedy’s emphasis on the universal rights of man and the need to “abolish all forms of human poverty” nevertheless had a different ring than current US policies. The US government committed limited resources to social reform. It turned out to be the last gasp of social reform both in foreign and domestic policy.
The volunteer crusade served several political purposes. It helped supply free labor to cover up the elimination of government programs. From health care to child [...]

John McCain - Biker-in-Chief

In his latest bid to look presidential, John McCain told an enthusiastic biker gathering in South Dakota:
As you may know, not long ago a couple hundred thousand Berliners made a lot of noise for my opponent. I’ll take the roar of 50,000 Harleys any day.

I’m sure this greatly increases Germany’s anticipation of his election. McCain - a true statesman!
Considering this quote plus his endorsement of his wife for Miss Buffalo Chip, I can see McCain one day following in the footsteps of John F. Kennedy, addressing a German crowd with the immortal words:
Ich bin ein sexist motorradfahrer!

After I recently sent out my review of the new JFK book by Jim Douglass I have received quite a few emails telling me about Presidential Executive Order 11110. Frankly I had never heard of it before so I have done some research into it.
On June 4, 1963, the virtually unknown Presidential Executive Order 11110, was signed by John F. Kennedy with the authority to basically strip the Federal Reserve Bank of its power to loan money to the U.S. federal government at interest. With the stroke of a pen, President Kennedy declared that the privately owned Federal Reserve Bank would essentially soon be out of business.
JFK’s order gave the Treasury the power “to issue silver certificates against any silver bullion, silver, or standard silver dollars in the Treasury.” This meant that for every ounce of silver in the U.S. Treasury’s [...]

Ted Kennedy Won’t Be Going to Denver

With treatment for his brain tumor taking a toll on his immune system, Sen. Ted Kennedy will be staying behind for the Democratic National Convention. Although not physically there, Kennedy will be at the Denver convention by video. Shot at his home in Cape Cod, Kennedy has taped a five-minute video over the weekend to air during the party gathering at the end of the month.
At this stage in his illness, attending a large convention would be much too risky and the possibility of catching some illness won’t be chanced. The AP had no further details about his present condition.
Kennedy was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor in May of this year. He had surgery in June and began chemotherapy shortly after.

Obama Doesnt Sweat, but should he be concerned?

In swing-state Colorado, the Republican Secretary of State conducted the biggest purge of voters in history, dumping a fifth of all registrations. Guess their color.

In swing-state Florida, the state is refusing to accept about 85,000 new registrations from voter drives – overwhelming Black voters.

In swing state New Mexico, HALF of the Democrats of Mora, a dirt poor and overwhelmingly Hispanic county, found their registrations disappeared this year, courtesy of a Republican voting contractor.

In swing states Ohio and Nevada, new federal law is knocking out tens of thousands of voters who lost their homes to foreclosure.

My investigations partner spoke directly to Barack Obama about it. (When your partner is Robert F. Kennedy Jr., candidates take your phone call.) The cool, cool Senator Obama told Kennedy he was “concerned” about the integrity of the vote in the Southwest in particular.

He’s concerned. I’m sweating.
