Graham Statement on Hamdan Sentence
WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham (R-South Carolina) today made this statement on the sentence handed down to Salim Hamdan who was convicted by a military tribunal at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.
“Having been a military lawyer for over 25 years I know how hard military jurors try to render fair and impartial justice. I respect the military commissions work product in terms of a guilty finding and the sentence handed down by the military jurors. I hope all Americans will as well.
“Both the verdict and sentence can be reviewed by our federal judiciary.
“It is important to remember Hamdan was Bin Laden’s driver and did provide material support to the architect of 9/11. It is clear from the evidence he is an enemy combatant.
