Dallas Renaming Ross Ave.

It looks as though César Chávez who had nothing to do with Dallas (or Lubbock) will get a street in the metroplex, and not just any street…Ross Avenue. Sure maybe Ross Avenue has seen it’s better days, but why rename one of the major streets in Dallas? This from the Dallas Morning News:
“In a surprise move, the council’s Trinity River Corridor Project committee voted in one motion to change the name of Industrial Boulevard to Riverfront Boulevard and to begin the process for changing the name of Ross Avenue to César Chávez Avenue.”
“What we are asking for today is respect. What the Latino community wants today is respect. How do you tell the community that César Chávez isn’t good enough when this city has a 60 percent Latino population?”

After someone tells me what César Chávez has to do with Dallas and Lubbock besides the fact he was hispanic, then maybe [...]
